Things to Do in Sooke : Victoria BC Canada

You don't have to go far from Blue Sky B&B in Sooke, to experience the great amenities of the West Victoria area. Enjoy the views of the Olympic Mountains over the Sooke Hills and calm waters of the Coopers Cove, on the Pacific Ocean from your patio.
At the Blue Sky's property, jump in the Galloping Goose Trail and walk or rent our bikes and travel as far as downtown Victoria or the opposite direction to the Sooke Pot Holes, A stone throw from the Blue Sky is Rush Kayaking where Scott will lead you out through Siike Harbour and finish up with lunch in the patio at Stone Pipe Bar & Grill. If fishing for Salmon or halibut in the Pacific ocean is part of your holiday plans, we can arrange a Fishing Charter with Roy at the Blue Wolf Fishing Charters.

Plan to spend part of your visit at one of the manu trails and beaches in the area. My favorites are Aylard Farm at East Sooke Park, and the head of the Juan de Fuca Trail starting at China Beach. Arrive at Aylard Farm to open grassy acreage with a short walk to the beach and then head along coastal (as long as you can) and then return the same way or cut back through the inside route. At China Beach a 10 minute walk through a beautiful rain forest area takes you to a great sandy beach where you can spend hours just walking, watching surfers or combing the beach for shells. Don't forget to head to the west side of China Beach to see the waterfalls. If you're looking for more, return to the start of the trail and head towards the next beach. A wide and comfortable forested trail will take you across a suspension bridge and within 30 min. you will arrive at Mystic Beach. You can venture to any of the other beaches along that route including French Beach which has a nice grassy area fro picnicing or many of the other Juan de Fuca Trail beaches all the way to Port Renfrew and Botanical Beach. on your return into Sooke don't forget to stop at Tugwell Creek Meadery for some honey to take home and sample some of the Mead wine. (Tip: a great hostess gift).
East Sooke also has many other trails to experience that can be checked out in the Capital Region District website.

A leisurely walk in Sooke along Whiffen Spit might catch some glances of bald eagles, seals, otters, birds and ducks. Approaching the "spit" is the world famous Sooke Harbour House, renowned for its fine dining. From Blue Sky B&B there are other great nearby restaurants from casual pub fare at the 17 Mile House or our favorite with excellent quality at Markus Wharfside.

If your idea of a walk is on a fairway. Just 20 minutes from Blue Sky Bed and Breakfast towards Victoria, experience Bear Mountain Golf Course and Olympic View Golf Course. Both boast fabulous views as well as a challenging round.

Day trips around Victoria from our bed and breakfast can combine touring many of the south islands' wineries and gardens. Visit Butchart Gardens and Marley Wineries for an afternoon or drive up the Malahat for a spectacular view of Salt Spring Island and My Baker in the Cowichan Valley.

Don't forget downtown Victoria and shopping Government and Johnson St. . Or visit Victoria's Chinatown on Fisgard Street.

See the Royal BC Museum and the Imax Theatre which is just across from the Empress Hotel. Stroll along the harbour and watch buskers perform or into the Undersea Gardens.
